What if the Doctor was actually a patient in a psychiatric ward.
His real name is actually John Smith. He’s called the Doctor because he’s constantly hearing things about doctors. The whole ‘last of the time lords, i’m so alone’ = his family was killed as he watched, which is what caused him to go insane. The weeping angels are from the graveyard where they were buried.
The TARDIS was his wife. Her human form in The Doctor’s Wife was her human form. She collected police boxes. The vwoorp is hospital equipment.
All his companions are his nurses, coming and going.
He’s trying to save the whole universe because nobody can save him.
There was already an episode of Buffy in which she got infected by a demon and began to have dreams that her entire life as the slayer was just a hallucination and that actually she was in a psychiatric ward. So whilst it would be cool if Doctor Who had this as a story, it might seem like a Buffy ripoff!
There was an episode in Smallville in which a Wraith infects Clark Kent. He wakes up in a psych ward, with no power, and his psychiatrist is trying to explain him that there’s no such things a “Jor-El”, “Phantom Zone”, etc.
And in Charmed, also, it happened. The 3 sisters didn’t have any powers there, and surrendering would mean they gave their powers to warlocks or whatever.
I guess it’s a pretty common scenario.
